The Nura Diagnostic Center in Calicut exemplifies Stapati’s ethos of sincerity to context, client, and environment. The project began with an existing, unused school structure in a degraded landscape. While the client initially expected large portions of the structure to be demolished, we saw potential in reusing it. By carefully studying the existing concrete framework, we explored how it could be retained and adapted, saving both time and resources.
Rather than imposing a new form, we integrated the building into its surroundings, allowing the landscape to play a central role in the design. Working with Salad Dressing from Singapore, we created a lush, biophilic environment that transforms the experience of a diagnostic center into one of calm and comfort. The re-greened site and adaptive reuse approach resulted in unique, organically formed spaces, quite unlike a conventional, pre-planned layout, while embodying our commitment to sustainability and human well-being.
